Popular treatments in 2020 & what’s trending for 2021!

January 28, 2021

Transitioning into the new year has us feeling optimistic, yet uncertain. It can’t be worse than 2020, right? Whatever may be in store for us, it’s never a bad time to work on YOURSELF.  As we enter the new year, this has given us time to reflect on our top treatments of 2020 and the treatment trends we are seeing for 2021!

In 2020, some of our top treatments were Hydrafacials®, CoolSculpting®, Botox®, and Dermal Fillers. To start, after months in quarantine, many patients were dying for a deep clean with our Hydrafacial® treatments. Our patients loved the unlined, baby smooth skin and clear pores left with the Hydrafacials’ vacuum technology extraction. We completed so many Hydrafacial® treatments, we were awarded the Black Diamond Icon, being at the highest level in Western Canada! We also saw a demand for CoolSculpting® as many were motivated to lose the quarantine 15 (including many of us at the clinic!). CoolSculpting® remains as one of our most popular treatments with it’s ability to freeze fat cells always giving jaw dropping results. In the year of the face mask, more and more patient’s were treating the uncovered areas of the face, such as eyes, brows, and forehead. Covering all areas of the face besides the eyes, definitely heightened the appearance of dark circles and eye bags. People do say the eyes are the window to the soul right? One of our most popular treatments being Tear Trough Filler, which uses Hyaluronic Acid to treat the under eye bags or dark circles, resulting in an instantly refreshed look.

The theme for 2020’s top treatments were all about not losing ourselves during the difficult times. To give ourselves a little more love than usual. From the hydrafacials® to rejuvenate the skin, the botox® and filler to help appear more refreshed, all the way to coolsculpting® the stubborn areas from being stuck at home.

As we say goodbye to a stressful 2020, we want to leave the past behind and press forward. This year, our medical experts at Vancouver Laser & Skin Care have predicted the top treatment trends of 2021:

1. Immediate Post Care

Our revolutionary Immediate Post Care treatment is changing the industry of laser treatments. We love a good ablative resurfacing treatment, but who loves the redness and downtime that comes with it? Our Post Care treatment is designed to hydrate and soothe inflamed skin, cutting your healing time in half! This service can be added on to any laser treatments at the clinic, promoting skin recovery and reducing water loss to the skin. Below is a patient’s photo immediately after her treatment, compared to her skin after her Post Care treatment only one hour later.

2. Botox® for Facial slimming

Botox® is as hot as ever, and we’re seeing an increased use for facial slimming. Not only can we freeze our fine lines away, but more and more patients are enjoying the benefits of a slimmer face by treating the masseter muscles. Botox® will relax the masseters, which can also help those struggling with teeth grinding or TMJ pain brought on by the stress of 2020. Sometimes there are just certain areas of our face and body that are too difficult to treat. There is no shame in looking into treatments that can help us regain some confidence. We learned from 2020 that life is too short, so do what you have to do to feel at your best!

3. Full Face Fillers

While most clinics are focused on treating individual areas of the face, this sometimes leaves the treated area looking less natural. Our expert injectors always treat the face as a whole to give the most balanced and natural results. By lifting the cheek bones, and highlighting the chin you’ll have that “top model” look. For those looking to be “zoom ready” most patients are treating the jawline, and double chin using dermal filler. We are also going to be seeing many patients continuing to treat tired eyes, with filler to give that immediate refreshed look. We predict 2021 to be the year of the ‘liquid facelift’, using hyaluronic acid (which is a natural compound found in your body BTW) to provide instant and low maintenance results.

4. Ultherapy®

Our clinic saw a rapid increase of face lifting treatments last year and we can only predict this trend to stay strong. Wearing a mask has turned into a blessing in disguise, as patients are taking advantage of treatments with downtime while still remaining discreet. Ultherapy® is the ultimate minimally invasive facelift, providing an outstanding lift using targeted Ultrasound thermal technology. Ultherapy® is one of the most effective non surgical face lifts available!

5. PRP

The use of PRP on skin and scalp are more popular than ever. The Platelet Rich Plasma found in our blood has at least seven growth factors that can stimulate hair growth. Rejuvenating the hair and scalp using PRP treatments have proven to be effective in slowing hair loss while improving density. When used on the face, it is proven to produce new collagen and tighten the skin, most commonly treating the eyes and mouth. This treatment has is increased in popularity, as the platelets from your blood are well tolerated by most patients.

6. Vitamin Therapy

Our immunity continues to be just as important as we enter 2021. Patients are loving our selection of Vitamin Therapy from brightening your skin with the “Vitabright” injection, to the full wellness cocktail from “The Works” IV drip. So, Sit back and relax – and let our organic vitamins and antioxidants boost your immune system. Who doesn’t love strengthening their immunity right? It’s clear to say that immune boosting will not only be popular this year, but ultimately essential. We learned our lesson in 2020, and it’s guaranteed that more people will be taking extra care if themselves this year.

We can’t predict the future, but we do see more and more people looking for low maintenance treatments that continue to help them look and feel great. Cosmetic treatments have become significantly more popular over the past year and we continue to see an increase of first timers trying more minimally invasive procedures. Doing treatments isn’t about loving yourself less, it means you are loving yourself more by maintaining your skin’s health and simply becoming the best version of yourself. The best part about our job is seeing the confidence shine out of our patients when they walk out of our clinic. What treatments are you excited to try?
