As an alternative to chemical topical antiperspirants, injectables are safe and highly effective. We use them in our Vancouver practice for sweat management in the under arms, forehead, palms and scalp. The product may be covered up to 100% by many private insurance plans and often those that have this type of coverage only have to pay an injection fee.

How It Works

Our injections stop excessive sweating by blocking the release of acetylcholine at the nerve endings which turns off the stimulation of the sweat gland. Once our Physicians have determined your sweat intensity they will decide the recommended dose per area. One of our certified registered nurses will administer the medication into the desired treatment area. Comfort measures, such as a Zimmer cooler or a topical numbing cream are available if needed.

Is the treatment painful?: This treatment is relatively quick and the discomfort is minimal as we pre chill the treatment area with the Zimmer cooler, pre-ice and we have both topical numbing and oral medication available should you desire them.
How does this treatment stop me from sweating?: Unlike topical agents, the solution addresses the excessive sweating at the source by temporarily blocking the nerves that are responsible for activating your sweat glands.
What is the downtime with this treatment?: Due to the delivery system of solution there is always a possibility of bruising so you should factor this into your social calendar when planning your treatment.
How many units will I need and is it safe to have that much solution?: The average underarm treatment for excessive sweating is usually 200 – 300 units of solution and as a treatment for excessive sweating and is considered perfectly safe when administered by a licensed professional.
How long do the results last?: The average relief of the treatment for excessive sweating in the underarm area is approximately 7 months with most clients repeating their treatment after 6 months to ensure they never return to their full sweat level.
