HOW IT WORKS

The PicoSure™ is a light based treatment that targets photo-damaged tissue with PressureWave™ technology. The energy created causes the pigmented cells to squeeze and vibrate without burning or damaging the skin. 

As the pigmented cells vibrate below the skins surface they shatter, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. Remember the cells vibrates at a trillionths of a second! 

Once the pigment is in tiny particles it is easier for the body’s natural healing process to expel it. Resulting in the production of fresh, new collagen and elastin.

FAQs

What is the downtime for the PicoSure™? 

Downtime includes redness and minor swelling which resolves within a few hours but may linger up to 24 hours. You may notice darkening of your existing pigment which will slough off after a few days. Avoid direct sun exposure and wear sunscreen.

Does it hurt? 

We offer a topical numbing cream to alleviate the discomfort you may feel during the treatment.

Why do I need to avoid the sun during my PicoSure treatments? 

The skin is more vulnerable to sunlight after any laser treatment so wearing SPF30+ is extremely important. A “tan” is damage caused by solar radiation therefore to have sun exposure during treatments such as PicoSure™ will result in both making it difficult to achieve an even skin tone and also make it more dangerous to provide a substantial treatment.

How many treatments do I need? 

Depending on your skin, anywhere from 3 – 6 sessions may be required to achieve the desired results. We recommend maintenance treatments to upkeep your skin health.
