How It Works

BELKYRA™ (KYBELLA®) is a patented formulation of deoxycholic acid manufactured by Allergan, the makers of BOTOX®. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies used to digest fat in our diets. BELKYRA™ destroys the fat cell membrane (picture a balloon popping) allowing the chin fat to be excreted out of the body, helping to get eliminate the double chin without double chin surgery.

FAQs

How many Belkyra treatments do I need to get rid of my double chin? 

Results vary from person to person and multiple sessions are usually recommended to gradually reduce the unwanted chin fat. As the body expels the chin fat, slimming of the area occurs over the next 8 weeks. The amount of treatments necessary is dependent on the amount of volume to be treated and your body’s response to the Belkyra™.

How long have you been treating double chins? 

We have been successfully treating double chins at Vancouver Laser & Skin Care Centre since 2004. When choosing a BELKYRA™ clinic in Vancouver, be sure to check they are Allergan trained injectors to safely get rid of a double chin.

Once the fat is gone will my skin be tight? 

Some clients have experienced “bounce back”. This is the result of elastin levels being high enough to re-drape after the excess fat is dissolved however most clients decide to seek alternate tightening methods to stimulate collagen production and increase elastin levels.

What if I don’t like the results?

Comfort is of the upmost importance at our Vancouver clinic. We pre-ice the area and use the smallest needles on the market to ensure you feel as little as possible. If you are anxious we also offer nitrous oxide (the famous laughing gas) to help you giggle through your appointment.
